Ragdolls are large, loving, laid-back longhairs with beautiful, big blue eyes. The body is light-colored with darker Siamese-type points on the face, legs, tail and ears. In most patterns, the points are partly covered with white markings. The ideal Ragdoll is a well balanced cat, with no extreme features. Altered males may reach 18 pounds or more; females are proportionately smaller. Ragdolls are slow maturing, reaching full coat color at two years and full size and weight at four.

Ragdolls adore their humans. They run to greet you at the door, follow you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you, and love you. They are gentle, carefully avoid scratching people and are good with children, the elderly and dogs. Ragdolls tend to be floor cats, not jumpers. They feel that humans prefer purrs to yowls and keep their voices softly musical.

Ragdolls are considerate of humans' busy schedules, so they bathe and groom their moderately long, silky coats themselves. They should be groomed with a steel comb as a part of cuddling ("one hand stroke, one comb stroke"), but most never need it. They never mat, shed very little, rarely have hairballs and are well behaved and eager to please.

There are four patterns recognized in the Ragdoll breed: bi-color, van, mitted and pointed. Patterns come in seal, blue, tortie, red and cream. Points may be solid, lynx or tortie.

Pointed ragdolls have the classic, Siamese-type markings. Mitteds look like they went wading in whipped cream and sneaked a sip: their chins are soft, fluffy white and so are their mittens and boots. Bi-colors look like they went swimming in whipped cream and dunked their faces in for a deep drink. All four legs, their underbodies, chest and an upside-down V marking on their faces are white and they may have a splash or two of white on their backs. Only their tails, ears and the outer part of their masks show the darker markings. Vans look nearly drowned in whipped cream. Only the top of the mask, ears and tail, and perhaps a few spots on the body show darker markings.

Ragdolls were developed in the 1960's by Ann Baker, a breeder in California. She bred Josephine, a loving, gentle longhaired white female carrying Siamese markings to other longhaired cats carrying Siamese markings. Her original stock consisted of sturdy, free-roaming cats. By selecting individuals with the look she wanted for her breeding program, she created the type standard for the ragdoll.

Pricing on Ragdolls depends on type, markings and bloodlines. We usually make kittens available between 8 and 12 weeks of age. After this age, kittens have had their basic innoculations and wormings and have developed the physical and social stability needed for introduction to a new environment, traveling or being transported by air. Keeping your rare treasure indoors, neutering/spaying, providing the best all natural-grain free diet meant for the carnivores they are and providing scratching posts to encourage natural behavior are essential elements for maintaining a healthy, long and joyful life.

All Ragdoll babies are born pure white and start to develop their colors at about 12 days of age.

"It was so nice to finally meet you. We thank you so much for the very generous gifts/toys etc for our little guy.

We made several stops on the way home ...Every time we stopped I stayed in the car with him, and he climbed inside my jacket and slipped his little head under my scarf. He purred constantly. When he was in the crate, He turned around so he could have his paw on my fingers. He was and is absolutely purrfect, better than we could even have expected.

Our house is so big, I have no idea when he’ll stop exploring, but he comes when we call him, follows us around and climbed up on Mark’s Lap on the recliner and fell asleep, just like Rusty used to do. I think I saw tears in Mark’s eyes, because he has been missing that!

We brought him to the litter box an he peed the second time we brought him there. He seems too busy 2 eat yet.

We introduced Inga to him, she is not pleased, but she has sat and watched him a bit. He even followed and stalked her a little. I think they will
be just fine in a few days...He already seems to know that we
spend many hours doting on our pets—he is quite happy.

We are not set on a name yet—we think it is “Sunny”, Sunshine—likely “Pocketful of Sunshine”, we are going to give it a few days. He comes to
“Sunny”, I think it sounds like “Buddy” to him.

...Not sure how the bedtime thing is going to go yet. We have a very nice soft bed for him
and he has already played with so many toys.

We are absolutely thrilled! I’ll write again and I’ll start taking pictures and send them within the week. I think I can get his kitten visit scheduled for Friday.

The CastleDolls is a TICA Registered Ragdoll Cattery located in Central New York just a short distance from the 'Quickway' NY Route 17 (future I-86), and is easily accessible from NYS Highways I-88 and I-81.

Our cats are pampered with love and affection resulting in well-socialized, extremely happy kittens that are much more to us than just Lap Tops, they are part of our family. All of our kitties are raised under foot, with free roam of the house to help them develop great social skills. All stem from Champion and Grand Champion bloodlines. Five generation pedigrees are provided to all new kitten owners. This special breed has been praised for it's puppy-like characteristics. Don't be surprised if your kitten fetches her toys for you and then jumps up on your lap for a belly rub! They are in fact really and truly puppy proof due to even more mothering and love from our tri-color rough collie, Spirit In The Skye and our new sable-headed white collie pup, Clarion Just One Look.

CASTLEDOLLS is a very small home based, closed cattery in the country. Our sapphire eyed beauties live right along side us day and night. Different patterns and colors are available at different times. Our pet kittens usually leave our home at about 8 - 12 weeks of age. By this time, they have already had two sets of 4way vaccinations and are wormed. All cats and kittens living free in our home are periodically tested and examined by a New York Veterinary Hospital for any signs of disease process or parasites. All adult cats are tested negative for FeLV and FIV. All individual cats and kittens that leave here for new homes are vaccinated appropriate for their age, are wormed, get a complete current physical from the vet and get an Interstate or NYS health certificate as appropriate.

Breeder and Show quality kittens are occasionally available by Private Treaty. Please contact us for pricing, availability and terms.

We are careful and experienced shippers using primarily NorthWest Airlines and have shipped many precious baby bundles of love with no problem at all to AZ, CO, CT, FL, KY, OH, MA, ME, MD, NH, NC, PA, SC, TX, VA , VT, Canada and Puerto Rico out of Binghamton, NY . Email for a reasonable, at cost shipping quote.

Once we have established a match between a new potential Pet-Owner and the kitten of their choice, usually by way of photographs, we ask for a deposit to hold that specific kitten especially for that client. Once a match is made, we no longer mention that specific kitten to anyone else as being available for adoption. We do send you weekly digital photographs so that you can monitor the growth of your kitten and start your own baby photo album. The reason we ask for a non-refundable deposit is so that we know that the buyer is very serious. We have also started the vetting process. This includes post-natal care, physical exams, vaccinations, wormings, and obtaining a health certificate from the DVM. We also fill out and pay for the form to start the registration process with The International Cat Association (TICA). When the buyer backs out at the last moment, we are still responsible for all of the expenses paid out.

We breed only a very small number of kittens per year, therefore, a reservation to hold your precious new friend is highly recommended.

Purchase Agreement

Under no circumstances is this Kitten/Cat be allowed to roam outdoors.

This kitten is not to be declawed. This procedure could alter the personality and cause aggression.

Purchaser is responsible for proper care of the Kitten/Cat which includes but is not limited to good food, fresh water, regular veterinary care and indoor sanitary facilities.

Breeder guarantees the Kitten/Cat to be healthy at the time of purchase for 72 hours. Of course the Buyer may have a licensed veterinarian examine the Kitten/Cat within 72 hours of delivery/pickup. If it is found that there is a serious health question, Buyer has 48 hours after the veterinary exam in which to ask for a Kitten/Cat replacement in writing. This request must be accompanied by a letter from the veterinarian whom performed the examination stating why the Kitten/Cat’s health is in question. Seller retains the right to have their veterinarian review and express an opinion regarding this letter. Seller is not obligated to replace the exact color or pattern, although the breeder will try. Seller will replace the Kitten/Cat as soon as a suitable replacement is available. Seller is not responsible for any veterinary fees. Under no circumstances will a cash refund be given. Buyer agrees to pay return shipping.

Kittens/Cats have a 2 year guarantee against lethal genetic or congenital defects. If the Kitten/Cat should die or have to be destroyed due to a genetic defect before it is 2 years old, Breeder will replace the Kitten/Cat upon being provided a necropsy report from a licensed veterinary pathologist as soon as a suitable replacement is available. Breeder is not obligated to replace the exact color or pattern, although the Breeder will try. The necropsy report must be signed by a licensed veterinary pathologist stating unquestionably that there was a genetic defect. There will be no cash refunds.

Breeder will not be responsible for any veterinary expenses or shipping costs. Breeder agrees to provide a complete record of all vaccinations for the Kitten/Cat. Buyer agrees to vaccinate the Kitten/Cat as appropriate for the age of the Kitten/Cat. If the Buyer chooses to inoculate for FIP or FIV, Breeder will not warrantee the kitten, and if said kitten should contract FIP, Breeder will not be responsible for any adverse reactions to subsequent vaccines of 3-way, 4-way, FeLV or Rabies.

If Buyer fails to comply with any aspect of this agreement, Buyer forfeits any rights Buyer might otherwise have.

Buyer is requested to isolate the new Kitten/Cat from other cats and kittens for a minimum of five days.

Buyer understands that the purchase price does not include an airline approved carrier, airfare, travel to airport or interstate health certificate. An exam performed by a NYS licensed veterinarian, a NYS health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian, 3 in1 or 4 in1 vaccinations and wormings appropriate for the age of the kitten/cat are included in the purchase price.
